Birthday Party or Experience?

This year I decided to create experiences with my children for their birthday over putting money into a party. There aren't a lot of things my children need so I thought this would be a fun way to celebrate them.

My son turned six this weekend and we celebrated by going to Chicago Illinois. We went to a new interactive museum, legoland, and lunch at the Sugar Factory. We stayed in downtown Chicago at the Marriott hotel. I chose this hotel because they had free breakfast and it was close to all the places we planned to go.

This museum operates in chapters, the end of the first chapter was March 31, 2019. Chapter two will open up soon. Every exhibit in the museum you could play with or on. The only exhibit you could not touch was the final exhibit by Yayoi Kusama titled the Infinity Mirror Room,

Next stop LEGOLAND! We spent Saturday exploring Legoland. I saved money by purchasing everything online. You can purchase your ticket, fun passes, and picture tickets. The kids received their robot packet on a cute legoland lanyard upon arrival and we were off! There were rides, building areas, and a 4D theater. There is something to do for all ages.

This was an experience within itself. I recommend making reservations as this restaurant stays packed. Lunch was great and affordable. The excitement came when they made our drinks!

Moral of the story I think my children enjoyed the away time with their mom as well as all the excitement from each experience. I hope you get a chance to take a weekend and experience Chicago or any city outside yours.
